Circa mid 20thC. Handmade copper stamp with solid steel base and handle. Made to stamp a wax pattern onto cloth prior to dying. The stamped, waxed area will retain the original colour of the cloth while the rest of the cloth takes the dye. The cloth is then washed in hot water to remove the wax and reveal the stamped pattern beneath.

Elegant ornamental piece. Will stand vertically on edge or angled, resting on handle. No need for additional support.
