Hand embroidered and stitched. Silk on silk with silk ribbons. Black cotton edging and back. Predominantly coil stitch. Slight wear visible.

This panel depicts the Jiwei bird, the father of all living creatures, surrounded by abstract flowers symbolising abundance and vitality. The scrolls suggest waves, symbolising the Miao people’s journey from the river to the mountains.
