This exquisitely embroidered panel has been newly created in the traditional style. Hand embroidered and stitched together as one panel through a horizontal centre seam. Vivid red silk on blue silk background. Cotton braid edging. Satin and chain stitch.

This panel portrays numerous animals and humans with the central two figures representing a mythical dragon-fish creature. Miao myths suggest that both humans and animals can turn into dragons and thus their designs often depict animals in the state of transformation. The dragon is said to protect homes and villages while the fish symbolises a wish for good fortune.
